Mission

Catholics on Campus is the Catholic community at Monash University. We strive to support one another as we witness before the University community to the love, truth and care of Jesus Christ through worship, education and social concern. We have a wide range of activities to attract those interested in the Catholic ethos at Monash. We try to be a spiritual home away from home, your extended family in Christ, for our many international members. We welcome new students and staff. Get involved and let us grow together in faith, hand in hand.

Goals

  • Provide a strong liturgical life and formation through the celebration of Sunday Mass, daily weekday Mass, other forms of prayer, the sacrament of penance and access to other sacraments.

  • Encourage participation in liturgical ministries: serving, reading, singing, extraordinary ministry of the Eucharist, hospitality, sacristy work, audio-visual support.

  • Develop a faith development/catechetical formation/theological education programme that appeals to and works for those who are interested in becoming Christians or deepening their knowledge of the Catholic faith.

  • Foster personal and spiritual growth.

  • Commit to social justice by identifying areas of need, both on campus, locally and overseas and supporting designated development projects.

  • Enjoy relaxing social events together – such as meals, games, film nights, ten-pin bowling, picnics.

  • Find ways to reach beyond our group to engage the wider university community through information, promotion and publicity about spiritual, educational, cultural and social opportunities.
